With cover and interior illustrations by Phil Foglio! No Place Like Home! Stranded in the myth-begotten world of P It's home to Ahaz, Skeeve's scaly green demon mentor and partner in crime, but it's no place for a human. When Ahaz takes exception to something Skeeve says, he walks away from MYTH, Inc. and goes back to Perv. Skeeve realizes that he must apologize for his thoughtless behavior and convince his stubborn, thin-skinned cohort to rejoin the firm-and finds himself trapped in the show more most demonic dimension of them all! Welcoming C "Nice of you to drop by, mister!" That was said by a Pervect, one of six who were blocking our path down the alley. "Of course, you know this here's what you'd call a toll-alley. You got to pay to use it." "That's right," one of his cronies chimed in. "We figure what you got in your pockets ought to cover it." I decided that this would be an excellent time to delegate a problem. "C'mon Kalvin! Do something!" "Like what? I told you I'm no good in a fight." "Well, do SOMETHING! You're supposed to be the Djin!" "Oh, all right!" he grimaced. "Maybe this will help." With that, he made a few passes with his hands and I was stone-cold sober! "That's all I can do for you," he shrugged. "At least now you won't have to fight 'em drunk.". show lessTags

Apparently, I skipped the book before this one, [b:M.Y.T.H. Inc. Link|148205|M.Y.T.H. Inc. Link (Myth Adventures, #7)|Robert Lynn Asprin|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1172193946s/148205.jpg|655619], and you know what? It didn't even seem to matter.
That is one thing I do enjoy about these Myth books. They are a series, but a very loose series where each book can 'almost' stand alone. It makes for a fun, enjoyable, no pressure kind of read.
So Skeeve grows up.

So Skeeve grows up.
The writing was solid, but I found the whole book annoying. Skeeve goes off to find Aahz, goes to Prevect which is much like New York, theres a few spots on pontification about how bad cities are, and Skeeve finally acts like an adult, that is until Aahz is found and starts ordering him around. I finished it, but only because the writing was simple enough and the story moves fast.
This one seems more like an interlude than an actual adventure. Plus the original team was gone and it was mostly just Skeeve. Not bad but not hilarious. The history of Aahz was pretty cool.
I bought this one back when it first came out but never wound up reading it. Pretty cute and typical of all the Myth books, but not exactly a heavy read and pretty much what you'd expect if you're a fan of the series.
Skeeve travels to the chaotic, dangerous dimension of Perv to reconcile with his mentor, Aahz, who quit M.Y.T.H. Inc. in a huff. Skeeve navigates Perv’s tough, urban environment and confronts his own limitations while trying to convince Aahz to return.
After a misunderstanding, Aahz leaves Skeeve to manage their magical consulting business alone. Skeeve realizes he cannot run the business without Aahz and follows him to his home dimension, Perv.

Skeeve discovers that he's not as grown up as he thinks he is.
It's an OK book. Nothing to write home about. Seems to be more about fan service as a number of fans have parts within the work. (They even break the fourth wall to let the reader know that they're fans.)

Robert Lynn Asprin was born June 28, 1946 in St. Johns, Michigan to Daniel and Lorraine Asprin. Asprin attended the University of Michigan from 1964-65. In 1965, Robert served in the U.S. Army until mid-1966. Asprin then began a career as an accountant, moving up to cost accountant in a small subsidiary of the Xerox Corporation in Ann Arbor in show more 1976. In 1975, Asprin began working upon a science-fiction novel called Cold Cash War. Asprin sold this idea to St. Martin's Press and soon found himself a published writer. When other publishers approached him for a second novel, Asprin revealed that he had written up a draft of a comedy-fantasy work originally entitled The Demon and I, but they felt that he shouldn't stray far from the science-fiction of his first work. So Asprin began work on The Bug Wars. While working on The Bug Wars, Asprin was approached by Donning Publishing, and asked if he had a submission for their new publishing house, Starblaze. Asprin showed them The Demon and I, which Donning quickly accepted. At the last minute the title was changed to the familiar Another Fine Myth, which became quite popular. With that, Asprin quit his job and started his career as a fulltime freelance writer. Asprin wrote and edited over 50 books. He died of a myocardial infarction at home in his bed on May 22, 2008.
