I thought the story was nicely wrapped up in the previous book, but this sequel manages to crack the story wide open - with Tedros and Agatha less than happy in Camelot and Sophie happily putting her own stamp on the School of Evil. It turns out Tedros might not be preordained to be King after all - and it doesn't help when Agatha undertakes his quest, putting plenty into doubt. Overall, I enjoyed this read, although I do have the sense that the author is constantly retelling the same story, only with a slight change each time - still, I've enjoyed this series enough to keep reading.
The general online consensus on this book was that it wasn't good (as second trilogies often aren't), but I liked it well enough. I had the ending figured out early, but Soman Chainani's slow reveal sometimes left me second-guessing. It's going to be an exciting trilogy! I'm not the target audience, so the twist may be more elusive to others, especially those who only read a little fantasy.
I was disappointed by the lack of Hort and Nicola. The beginning of the book made them out to be quite significant, and maybe they will be, but they still feel like sidekicks. What would the story have been like told from their POV instead of Sophie, Agatha, and Tedros?

First, I love these characters. As much as they squabble they come together when it matters most. However, Agatha and Tedros are both holding each other back instead of working together. Sophie is still dangerous in love. All three of them have trouble with making good decisions. That is generally their downfall. They haven't learned from their mistakes yet.
Rhian is an interesting addition. I am not sure if I like him or not. He does know how to work things to his favor, though. Nicola is also an interesting addition. I like her. She is tough and gets right down to business.
The ending was a shocker. There were things throughout the book that gave you clues to this. However, if you are anything like me, you will think "there is no way show more that is gonna happen". Yes, it happened. Now what? Well, I guess I will have to read the next book and see where it goes. show less

Quests for Glory starts out with Agatha and Tedros in Camelot and Sophie in the School for Evil as Dean. Their classmates are in various kingdoms near by on their fourth year quests. About six months earlier Tedros had his coronation before becoming king and it resulted in a disaster so bad that now Excalibur is stuck in the wall and Tedros and Agatha are taunted by there own people. Sophie isn't exactly being a good dean either and soon finds out that her classmates(Sophie,Agatha and Tedros included)are failing their quests. A few days later after Chaddick has died on his quest, Professor Dovey decides that Agatha, Sophie, Hort, Hester, Andil, Dot and newcomer Nicola have a new quest: to save their classmates. They head to the Lady of show more the Lake who has been tricked by a new villain mastermind, The Snake. He has there classmates captive at the Four Point, where all the kingdoms meet. He dares the Lion to save them and when he doesn't come he takes Agatha and her crew captive. Eventually the Lion comes but it isn't Tedros. Agatha and Sophie decide to track down the lion while Tedros is trying to decide if his fathers "Advisors" are telling the truth when they say there is another with Arthurs blood. Tedros decides to also find this Lion and see if he knows anything. They find the Lion(Who is Good) and learns he is friend not foe while also learning the Snake plans to attack Camelot within 72 hours. They all ride back and prepare Camelot for battle. Tedros gets in a battle with the snake and his badly hurt so Agatha orders Rhian (The Lion) to kill the Snake despite Tedros's protests. After they win the battle Tedros exchanges gifts with Rhian who he declares his knight. Rhian proposes to Sophie as his gift which is odd since a knight usally gives his gift to the queen.Tedros tells Rhian he will give him anything he wants and Rhian responds with the key to keep Excalibur safe. Agahta rushes out of the crowd to stop Tedros but it is too late. Rhian opens the box and pulls out Excalibur declaring himself the new king of Camelot and anyone who was friends with Agatha or Tedros to be put in jail. Agatha is the only one who escapes and only turns around once to see that The Snake had become The Lion and The Lion had become The Snake
I would rate this book 5 stars because it had a excellent plot. I was not expecting this book to come out in the first place so I was slightly skeptical that it would be good. I liked the first three books in" The School for Good and Evil" series so I started reading and immediately realized I was wrong. The story introduces some well-written new characters and a plot with plot twists so unexpected you will gasp when you read them. The book is also written so that you gather different experiences from the same event. For example, one chapter might be told from Agatha's perspective and the other from The Coven or Hort. The only complaint that I had was (SPOILER ALERT) a few characters die. They are minor characters and help you understand the scene that the book is setting but still makes you yell "No!" in your head. This book was very good and I would recommend it to anyone who has read the first three books in" The School for Good and Evil" series and liked it. Note: Don't read this book unless you have finished book three in the series otherwise it wont make sense. show less

All the students are in the middle of their fourth year quests. Agatha is planning her wedding to Tedros (though wedding planning might be her least favorite activity after primping in front of a mirror). Tedros is trying to rebuild his bankrupt kingdom. Sophie is revamping the School of Evil in her image.
However, someone is out there attacking both Ever and Never kingdoms alike and sabotaging the fourth years' quests. Agatha leads a quest to discover the truth and rescue her classmates but she discovers that truth and lies are not as clear cut as she thought.
Will Sophie ever find true love? Will Tedros ever be crowned king of Camelot? And will Hort ever get over his crush on Sophie?

The School for Good and Evil continues with its fourth book, “Quests for Glory”. Our two main characters, Agatha and Sophie, start their fourth and final year. This time they are trying to make their own fairy tail. It starts off with Agatha planning her wedding with Tedros, but when Tedros’ coronation goes horribly wrong, he starts to ignore Agatha and his duty. Meanwhile, Sophie becomes the Dean for the School for Evil. Hort becomes a teacher and The Coven search for a new School Master.
Tedros’ best friend, Chaddick, gets killed by an unknown killer. Agatha enlists Sophie’s aid to solve this mystery while Tedros runs the kingdom. While Agatha, Sophie and the crew are off on this new adventure, an evil plot to take the show more kingdom from Tedros is already underway. They soon find out that a snake is trying to take over the throne and that would mean killing Tedros. By the time the crew gets back to the kingdom it is too late. The snake has locked up Tedros and will then capture Agatha, Sophie and the rest of the crew.
This book ends with a cliffhanger. I gave this book five stars because of the creativity involved in the world the author created. It was extremely interesting with all the different plots and the imaginative storytelling. This book is written in the third person point of view. It kept me hooked and I almost couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait till the 5th installment comes out. show less
