Dangerous Games

Lora Leigh is well-known for her scorchingly hot Romantica/ Erotica. Because I usually enjoy Leigh's books, I am surprised to say that this one was a disappointment. The characters are not developed and so stereotypical, they come across as cheesy! The sex is there, of course, but the characters are so lacking in personality that I couldn't bring myself to even finish the book. Her second book in this series (Hidden Agendas) is quite good and her Breeds series is fantastic. Leigh is a good writer, but this book is not representative of her skill.

Morganna Chavez, an undercover DEA agent, unexpectedly meets Clint McIntire at a Dom/Sub sex club. She is hunting a man who has drugged and kidnapped six women using a new date rape drug. Clint is her brother's best friend, and the brother of her best friend. Because of physical abuse doled out by his father because Clint didn't keep his mother from sleeping with other men, Clint feels himself too stained to act on his life long attraction to Morganna. Morganna is at her wits end, and if Clint won't "man up" and accept her love, she'll dump him. Meanwhile, the DEA sting is putting both of their lives in danger.

A lot of explicit sex: BDSM; mutual masturbation; anal intercourse; genital piercing -- However, the plot makes it seem more show more "natural" a part of the story than in many of the other erotica I've been reading. show less

Morganna è figlia di un Navi Seal,sorella di un Navi Seal ed è innamorata di uno di loro da sempre…anche se non ricambiata.
Sa quindi molto bene che quando se lo ritrova davanti nel locale BDSM, il Diva’s, è nei guai.
Clint vorrebbe strozzarla. Ha fatto di tutto perchè lei fosse sempre protetta e al riparo dalle brutture del mondo…e guarda tu dov’è andata a infilarsi! Non conta niente che lui sia un cliente abbonato, con la propria stanza dei giochi. Morganna non deve avvicinarsi a quel mondo!
Peccato che ormai non sia più una bambina, ed oltre ad essere estremamente sensuale e disinibita, sia un agente inflitrato della DEA (la sezione narcotici della polizia) con il compito di smascherare un giro di “droga dello stupro” show more (GHB) che una banda stà utilizzando per rapire giovani donne che usa per girare filmini a luci rosse da rivendere sul mercato nero e che poi uccide.
Sarà una fatica tremenda per Morganna far capire a quel testone di Clint di che pasta è fatta ed evitare di venire estromessa dalla squadra.

Sebbene la parte investigativa e che gira attorno ai club erotici sia interessante e ben scritta, ho notato parecchie indecisioni nel carattere di Clint…un momento signore e padrone, il momento dopo cucciolo indeciso che non sa come comportarsi. Comprendo bene, comunque, che data la sua storia famigliare un bel groviglio emotivo ci stesse…ma forse non così tanto e spesso.
Un pò traumatiche, infine devo riconoscerlo, le scene hard…devo ancora farci il callo.
Ma nel frattempo sconsiglio chi preferisce le storie d’amore più classiche (a meno che non siano disposte a fare un bel passo oltre) dal leggere questo genere di romanzi estremamente spinti.
Per altro un inizio un pò incerto, ma che valuto di buone possibilità. Aspetto il prossimo, anche se gli altri personaggi di questa serie non gireranno attorno ai locali BDSM hanno già iniziato a delinearsi dei bei personaggi che sono curiosa di scoprire meglio. show less

She picks her fights, and makes the moments count, and never ever lets him get away with anything! Her resolve to fight for Clint, for his soul even if she can’t have his love, is heartening.

The story is thick with suspense as the pair work to uncover the identity of not only the villains pushing a dangerous date-rape drug in the clubs, but to also ferret out the identity of a mole intent on betraying them all. With each new release, Leigh becomes even more adept with the suspense genre, which is never more evident than in this book.

Not as entertaining as Leigh's Breeds books.

The date-rape drug plot has potential, but there are constant references to events that have no foundation or build up.

Another problem is the lack of realistic characterization. Although Morgana is supposedly a DEA agent of some kind, she has absolutely no skills in this area and her only qualification seems to be that she looks good in a mini-skirt.

Clint is a compelling tortured hero despite his domineering tendencies but how exactly does one become a Navy SEAL after joining the ARMY?! It would seem that Leigh skimped on her research into the arms of the military.

Clint and Morgana have good chemistry and a strong emotional connection but the angst in their show more relationship gets old after a while.

The series continues with other members of Clint's SEAL team and I will probably read them sometime. show less

You know, once upon a time, the 'danger' of reading about BDSM would make me forgive little things, like poor plot lines, poor characterisation, poor sentence structure. But those days are no more. This is a very vanilla BDSM book with repetitive themes and word usage. It's badly written, which is a shame, because I think Lora Leigh is better than this. The characterizations are very broad and not very interesting. The tension is vapid and the villians card board cut outs. This is not a good romance, nor is it an interesting thriller. I confess I did not read it all the way, but started skimming and then skipped whole chunks. It was the worst of all things - boring. I was very disappointed.

Love Morg and Clint. Just like most guys, he is bull headed and doesn't know his ass from his lips. Good thing he loves her and she loves him. He should have lost her so long ago.
