Oh! So cute!
An alternate Earth is people by cats. (Catted by cats?) When threatened with an energy crisis, the president (a cat) calls the world's best scientist (also a cat) who then assembles his top CatStronaut team: more cats, of course! Follow these adorable kitties, Pom Pom, Waffles, Blanket, and Major Meowser as they travel to the moon to save the day!
And, huge bonus points to the author for giving us cats that act like cats. They act like people, too, of course, but they also eat fish and hate water and take naps and in general bring the "Aww" moments of felines into this space story. Funny, gripping, and adorably sweet, this is one sci-fi book perfect for any cat-lover!

children's graphic novel (3rd grade and up?); cute/funny cat-astronauts save the world in their own goofy way.
Not science-heavy but creatively charming comic by Space Camp cadet Drew Brockington; the story moves quickly and the artwork has a lot of kid-appeal. Fortunately, there are already 3 more installations in this series.

Super cute, but I had two issues:
1. Are all the catstronauts male? I wanted to believe Pom Pom or Blanket could be female, but this book is all dialogue so there aren't a lot of pronouns and the illustrations don't clearly convey a gender. UPDATE: Pom Pom is identified as female in book two. Issue somewhat resolved (I'd prefer if half were female, but at least they're not all male).
2. The World's Best Scientist says, "Because the moon is always covered in sunlight, we will be able to constantly collect solar energy [by putting solar panels on the moon].". But that didn't seem right to me. I'm not an astronomer, so I checked NASA's Moon Portal website and it says, "The front and back are alternately lit as the Moon rotates." show more target="_top">https://moon.nasa.gov/about/misconceptions/
Otherwise this is delightfully punny and surprisingly similar to the movie Apollo 13. show less

This is a really cute comic about cats who have to go to the moon to save the world from an energy crisis. It feels pretty modern, actually. I like the art style and I think it's great for early readers, as it's not super text heavy. It's funny and sweet and perfect for cat lovers.
The world is running out of energy and it is up to the four catstronauts to build a power plant on the moon, to harness the solar energy and send it to earth. And these four cats are up to the challenge! This children’s graphic novel is almost too cute for words. These cats act like people, but they act like cats, too, which accounts for a great deal of the charm of the book. Though intended for children, it’s easy to see why it would appeal to those adults who are young at heart.
This graphic novel is certain to please young readers with an interest in space. A team of cats responds to the President's request to save earth from an energy crisis by installing solar panels on the moon. It's a cute start to a series.
I liked the bit that included actual astronaut training. I hated that there were four catstronauts and every single one was male. My daughters wanted their space agency to be CASA.
