Part of the Olympic Stars series from ABDO books that showcases the stars that shone the brightest in the most recent Olympic Games whether on the track, in the pool or in the gym.

In this entry, Matt Scheff provides a brief look at the life of Simone Manual, providing information about her early childhood and the events that led to her historic performance in the 2016 Summer Olympics, as she became the first African-American woman to win gold in an Olympic swimming event. Given the significance of her accomplishment and the decided lack of biographies about her – this is the only one – libraries will forgive the brevity of information and the photo-heavy text, in order to have something on their shelves. This would be suitable for show more biography reports, casual interest and more importantly, to provide diversity in the biography shelves. Recommended: An important addition to the sports biography shelves and where the Olympics are in demand. show less
