The son of a Mississippi policeman finds a boy living on his own in the wilderness. Not fooled by the boy’s evasive explanation as to why he’s on his own, Sam becomes entangled in his own efforts to help Davey. But this leads him to telling small lies that only get bigger as the danger increases for both boys and hidden truths become harder to conceal.

If you know a child who loves adventure, this book is for them! Not only was it a pure adrenaline rush, the central message focuses on helping others in need, facing your fears, and realizing that sometimes bad things just happen to good people through no fault of their own.

The story begins with a search for a dead body in the secluded swamps of Mississippi. Twelve-year-old Sam is helping search, but instead finds a young boy living on his own in an abandoned campground. He quickly realizes the boy is holding onto secrets that could endanger both of their lives.
