There is even considerable agreement about the only conceivable remedies that can be applied: not constitutional reforms, nor new political movements, nor novel combinations of parties in power, nor even a dictator; but above all a change of attitude among the bulk of the French people, greater readiness to forget the feuds of yesterday in order to tackle the dilemmas of today, and willingness to abandon sectional privileges in the cause of the most neglected of all ideas in the revolutionary tradition - Fraternity.
