Typical Betty Neels story, except everyone is British in this one. Beatrice, who works as a Veterinarian's assistant for her father, meets Oliver, an eminent cardiologist, while walking her fog on the local hillside one day. A nice friendship starts to develop, when everything is upended by her father's heart attack, and the arrival of a temporary fill-in vet who thinks it would be a great idea to charm Beatrice into marriage and get a partnership with no effort. Drama ensues, Beatrice eventually sees the light, and ultimately all ends happily. A restful, pleasant story predictable in a good way.
Beatrice meets Professor Oliver on the hilltop one day - and then he keeps turning up whenever something was going wrong, setting things right. She can't imagine why he's always there for a nothing girl like her. It's only to protect her from the locum who took over her father's vet business, and then fancied himself in love with her to get his hands on a partnership - or is it really more?
