At a hypnotism show, Pete asks the Amazing Marco to make his mother think she's a pirate, but when the hypnotist has to leave suddenly, nautically-themed mayhem ensues!
This easy reader is acceptably funny and engaging. The dialogue is snappy and the action moves along quickly. The fresh plot makes Pirate Mom a good recommendation for young elementary students looking for something to read on their own.

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Primary (1-3)
Review:
This book is about a child and his mother. His mother was hypnotized into believing she is a pirate and her son tries to find a way to return her to normal.
This book is fantasy because a person cannot be hypnotized by others. At least some people believe that hypnotizing is not real thus this would be a fantasy.
Use:
1) Talk about hypnotizing and theories behind whether it works
2) Talk about pirates and what they were like
Ill. Media: Computer
