Yuki annoyed me. She acts like she has a strong case and is sure to win. She wanted to be put in charge of the case. But I was surprised they would even go to trial with so little. Because the victim is famous seems to be the only reason. Yuki never shows concerns about the very obvious weakness of the case. All she has is a retracted confession and some jail house stool pigeons. There is no body, no forensic evidence, no blood, no witnesses to place the victim and suspect together. No witnesses placing the victim at the scene. Lots of weakness for the defense to point out. The accused also has a very successful attorney with a great reputation. Plus the accused, Junie according to Lindsey looks like "Bambi's baby sister". We are told show more over and over how pretty, sweet and innocent she looks. Yet Yuki never worries about any of that.
There is a man who is writing a book about the victim. When he asked Yuki out and she accepts I knew that would come back to hurt her. The how was unexpected and farfetched.
I did like the twist at the very end.

Another riveting thriller featuring Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer, Claire Washburn, Cindy Thomas, and Yuki Castellano. This one has Lindsay and her partner, Rich Conklin, hunting for serial arsonists/murderers while Yuki tries one of her most significant cases yet. 7th Heaven is packed with lots of action and surprise plot twists that kept me guessing with every page turn. This series keeps getting better and better. Note to authors: Please don't let Lindsay blow it with Joe. He is the perfect guy!
Not bad for a free book, though it suffered from not having read the 6 previous novels.

The case itself was interesting and the writing's pretty good. There are some moments of gender fail that made me wince, however - consider yourself warned. (I've seen worse, but...)

The Women’s Murder Club series is one of my favorite and I really enjoyed the 7th book. Patterson’s chapters are very short and this is something I really enjoy. I feel that he does a good job of getting to the point.

I must admit however, that I did find the ending of the book to be somewhat disappointing. I felt that the ending was a little hokey. I didn’t like the idea of where the two arsonists got their names and ideas. I just felt that it ended rather quickly. Overall, this is a great read. Another great book by James Patterson!
Review: 7th Heaven by James Patterson.

A quick read. I read it in one day. It was enjoyable story like many of his books but lacking that extra exciting adventure he is known to write. There are two amazing stories for the reader to unravel.

One was about a California boy with a broken heart who disappears under mysterious circumstances. He’s the son of the Governor which puts the case on high authority for Lindsay Boxer the detective who is investigating the situation.

The second was about a deadly rash of arsons that were being set to the most beautiful homes in San Francisco and leaving their owners to perish among the infernos. Lindsay and her partner Rich enlist her friends in the Women’s Murder Club to help find the show more arsonist….and suddenly the fires start raging much to close to home.

The two intense cases bring Lindsay and Rich closer together than ever…and put Lindsay on the edge of her seat. Torn between two men and close to an emotional breakdown, she has to draw on every resource to keep from being pulled under. This last issue with Lindsay with all the other stunning twists and emotional surprises in the story I guess James Patterson just wanted to add more fuel to the fire……

Finally, the plot makes sense! I’ve complained before about the lack of cohesiveness in the plotting of this series, but 7th Heaven really pulls it together. I loved how the story was woven together, and the way the disparate crimes finally related to each other.

This story has plenty of thrills and chills as one of the Murder Club members deals with a threatening stalker. Whatever else you might say about James Patterson, his novels definitely have a way of gripping you and pulling you into the story. The gory details may be a little much for some readers, though.

My only complaint was that I didn’t like the way the love triangle between Joe, Conklin, and Lindsay was worked out. I don’t know that it could have been resolved in a show more way that would make me happy, though, so I might not be the best judge. show less

This book wasn’t as intense or gripping as the other ones. I could easily put this down for a few hours to do something else and hardly think about the book. That’s not to say that the book was bad, it just wasn’t as exciting and thrilling as others in the series. The book starts out with a bang but it fizzled out at times. It’s unfortunate because there were two very interesting plots that were in this book, it just didn’t work.

There is an arsonist on the loose that is burning up homes along with the people living in the home. After three houses and six victims, there are no leads. There is no evidence of how the fires even started. The only thing that they find at all the show more crime scenes in a book with a sentence in Latin in the book. This plot was sad but it just didn’t hit me the way others had. I can’t put my finger on it, but I just wasn’t gripping the book and speed reading to find out who the arsonists were and their reasoning for it. I also was a little disappointed with how this plot ended. Maybe I’ll read it again and appreciate it more, but I just found it odd.

The other plot was a little more exciting. The governor’s son is widely know around the country- for having a heart defect. Everyone knows who Michael Campion is. “The boy with the Broken Heart” has been missing for three months. No ransom note, no call home, no letters, absolutely no contact. Also no leads. Until there is a tip on the tip line and it’s not pretty. This story also went from “This is going to be awesome!” to yeah but where is the rest? I just didn’t feel connected to this plot. I was surprised by the ending of this one and I rather liked it, which bumped up my rating a little bit.

The one part of this book that I felt connected to was the romance/relationship with Joe. He’s finally in San Francisco full time and their relationship is growing into something that I could definitely handle reading about for a long time. But then there’s also her super attractive partner at work. She hasn’t gone and said that she has feelings for him, but it’s apparent that there is something there. I am exciting to see how these two relationships grow or fizzle in the coming books.

I love this series, so I won’t give up on it after a book that I didn’t love, but I do hope that the next one is better. Maybe I’m in a book funk which is possible.
