It's a collection of collections, with 4 parts, each of which has a handful (5?) of short stories. You can read the individual stories or go through them all back to back (as I did over the last few nights). The stories are thematically related, but there's no real plot between them, so no reason to read them in any particular order.
I think my favorite part of reading this is sharing just how wonderful the relationship between Frog and Toad is. They may argue sometimes, but they're always show more supportive in the end and really great friends. Also, I love doing voices. For me Toad ended up with a deep 'toadlike' voice and Frog somehow ended up being Mouse from the Matrix... Who knows.
Give it a read. They're adorable. show less

I have an old 1970s copy of Frog & Toad Together that sits on the top of the shelves in my home office along with two other children's books that I have loved since I was a little girl. It isn't my original copy from 1972...but one I bought later for my youngest son. In my opinion, every child should be friends with Frog & Toad....so I found an exact copy of the one I had as a girl and we read it many, many times when my littlest tot was still small. He's 16 and taller than me now....so Frog & Toad wait in the ready for grandchildren to visit the house.
I got an email recently from Harper Collins that said: Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Frog and Toad with new and classic stories. I had no idea it was Frog and Toad's birthday!!! Well show more -- Happy Birthday to my two favorite green buddies!!! (sorry Kermit....you come in 3rd, followed by Oscar the Grouch)
I logged into my library's site and checked out the Frog and Toad Audio Collection. This audio book gathers the stories from Frog and Toad are Friends, Frog and Toad All Year, Frog and Toad Together, and Days with Frog and Toad.
My favorite story is still In the Garden. Toad learns that gardening requires patience. There are times when I have been tempted to stand next to my newly planted garden in the spring and yell "Now Seeds....Start Growing!!!'' .....just in case Toad had a good idea after all. :)
The total running length of this audiobook collection is about 24 minutes. I listened while I cooked breakfast before going to work. What a nice start to my day!
I had a lovely visit with two childhood friends! Kids (and older fans of the green duo) would love this audiobook either to accompany looking at the art in the books or just the audio alone. Lobel reads in a very entertaining manner. It reminded me of the elementary school librarian reading to us while we sat on our mats back in the day.... :) show less

In In Frog and Toad Are Friends by Arnold Lobe, the theme can be identified as the friendship and loyalty between frog and toad as they embark on their adventure. The book is composed of short stories that highlight friendships that overcome many of their challenges whether it’s losing a button, waiting for mail, or trying to tell a story. Both characters experience personal growth within their characters as they learn new skills of patience, kindness, and the importance of being there for one another.
Lobe story telling is very subtle and thoughtful as well as his illustration that use warn colors. Lobe highlights how differences don’t weaken a friendship but instead make it richer. An example of this would be through Toad's show more actions, he is very anxious or even impatient, however, Frog’s steady, thoughtful nature shows the comfort of having someone calm at your side.
Reading Frog and Toad Are Friends really reminded me of the importance of having someone truly “gets you” . I think sometimes it can be very changeable for kids growing up to make good honest friends and Frog and Toad truly outline a friendship that is built from kindness and loyalty. show less

This is a charming book for children. I find Frog and Toad's characters even more sympathetic as an adult than I did as a child. Frog and Toad are very innocent, yet they have grown-up problems, which they usually resolve by being supportive and steadfast friends to each other.
This is a sweet book about friendship and supporting one another.
Frog and toad is a collection of stories by Arnold Lobel. These stories follow Mr. Frog, and Mr. toad as they travel around the swamp have many adventures together. While they always manage to solve their problems they have some very creative ways of solving them. These stories also can show children what real friendship is. There are many very well drawn pictures throughout the stories. These pictures are detailed down to the last wart on Mr. Toads head. These stories could be great read alouds, or just one to keep in your classroom library. No matter how much they fight these two best friends always seem to make up. This is a great collection that shows that forgiveness is the key to friendship.
Lobel's illustrations are so simple and delightful. His stories are the kind of quiet little bits of small happiness we all need once in a while.
