Description

My name is Melody Greene, and I have a confession to make. I slept with my student, a senior in high school. Multiple times. I had multiple orgasms. In multiple positions. I slept with my student and I enjoyed it. I slept with my student and Id do it all over again if I could turn back time. My name is Melody Greene, and I got kicked out of my position as a teacher and did my walk of shame a la Cersei Lannister from the principals office, minutes after said principal threatened to call the show more cops on me. My name is Melody Greene, and I did something bad because it made me feel good. Here is why it was totally worth it. show less

Dear Lord...L.J. Shen can write some smut. The best kind, it makes you laugh, it makes you feel, and it makes you need a cold shower. Defy is the prequel to Vicious...which shouldn't be passed up either. However this book is a novella, so it's on the short side, which if you have read any books by L.J. Shen, you will know...IT'S NOT ENOUGH!! Gahhh, I needed more Melody and Jamie. Melody is a English Lit teacher at an exclusive prep school in Todos Santos, an exclusive rich ass community. Jamie, is her 18 year old student. What happens is not illegal, but forbidden.
This book is told entirely in Melody's point of view, would have been nice to have Jamie's as well, but lord that Mel is a hoot. I don't think I can talk this author up show more enough, I want everyone to read her books and enjoy them as much as I do! show less
Rough Love ♦ L.J. Shen | Rezension

Also wieso stört mich die Sache dann so?

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

Melody is a teacher at a local high school with students that only know how to have everything handed to them on a silver platter. Spoiled doesn't do them justice, especially not Jaime, one of the four hottest guys in school with a chip on his shoulder. Otherwise known as the hot holes, Jaime and his friend rule the school and have everyone playing some pretty dangerous games too. When he sets his sites on Melody their lust lights everything on fire.

Forbidden love? Check. A bit of darkness? Check. L.J. Shen's fantastic writing? Double check. Defy, a prequel in the Sinners of Saint series, features a sexy, brooding student and a timid, but beautiful teacher who break all the rules together show more and find everything in one another. I happen to have a massive soft spot for insta-lust and student/teacher tropes, so it should be no surprise that I loved Defy. On top of that, for being so short, L.J. Shen has a complete story line mixed in with all the smutty fun. It's hard not to like Melody, she deserves so much more than she's had in her life, and all readers will fall for Jaime once they really know the man behind the rude demeanor. Jaime's soft spot for Melody is apparent and I love how they found one another, despite the taboo and the forces working against them.

Defy is a complex short that all fans of L.J. Shen will enjoy. I loved getting to know who the hot holes really are, especially in a school setting, as the rest of the Sinners of Saint series gives us the men as adults. Each has so much more to them than just the dark games they use to make people follow their ruling.

Previous *short* review from Hot for Teacher anthology:

Defy by L.J. Shen - L.J., doing it again with her bad boy characters and uniquely dark writing, Defy was beyond good. Not only is this one a captivating short, but it introduces us to Vicious and if you're a fan of L.J. Shen then I know you're just as excited as I am for a full length about that bad, bad boy.

Sexually Explicit
Mel teaches Lit at All Saints High. Jamie is one of her students. When she backs into his car, she's convinced her finances are screwed. When he takes the blame she's grateful but confused. But when he blackmails her into sleeping with him, her world changes.
Jamie and Mel's story is hot and forbidden, bitter and sweet with a happy ending. I enjoyed it.
Jaime and Melody's story is one where you get a taboo relationship, I love this sinful forbidden romance, a teacher-student relationship is always a favorite of mine and this one was fantastic, definitely one of my top in this trope. As always LJ Shen knows how to drag me into the black hole of her stories and doesn't let me go until I finish the whole story.
So now I am the second book in the series, this book is about Melody and another one of the 4 aholes(hotholes) This one is Jaime's book, he is Vicious's best friend or the closest to him. One thing that I appreciated about Jaime was that he did not let Vicious speak to his lady love Melody like he wanted he protected her even though the things that they did to others that defied them normally paid for it, yet again he didn't allow it to happen to her. Melody was his teacher and a forbidden romance, but she couldn't help who she fell in love with. At first I was like Oh hell no, not another Mary Kay Letourneou, and yes even though she was ten years older and I don't exactly agree but L.J. made it work. I liked Melody, and I expecially show more liked that she cared about Millie. On to the next one.. show less
