Featuring the unique collection of costume and accessories created by Charles Paget Wade and now held at Berrington Hall in Herefordshire. Many of the items that have been specially photographed for these books have rarely, if ever, been seen by the public because of the vulnerability of the collection. These books give access to superb shoes and hats; forthcoming books will include funky buttons and beautiful embroideries.   Shoes are not only a means of conveying status, class and persona, but also hold the hopes, dreams and fantasies of greater delights above. Dating from the early 18th century through to the 1880s, they show how an essentially protective covering for the foot can also be a fashion statement.
