Description
August Vallory had it all. A modeling career, a man he loved, and the extended family he'd acquired in the business. Then the world he knew was torn away when the plane he was on crashed en route to a photo shoot. Lost in the Alaskan wilderness, August doesn't stand a chance. No sane man would choose to live in the Alaskan bush unless he had something to hide. And Keegan Brooks has secrets darker than night, more dangerous than wolves, more brutal than an Alaskan winter. Every day was a show more fight for his life until he stumbled upon a downed plane with a lone survivor. Now it's no longer just Keegan's life teetering on the edge of survival. It's his heart. show lessTags

Survival fiction at its finest
Gripping, brutal and inexplicably beautiful. If you think of survival fiction like a wound, the majority of it goes: flesh wound, anaesthetic of some sort, tidy sutures, character building scar with the beauty of a well done tattoo. On the other hand, ‘Wild’ is more like: deep gash, “gosh I hope he stays unconscious”, haphazard stitches, scar gruesome enough to make you gag.
The beauty of Wild comes from the depth of the relationship between Keegan and August. My eyes welled up with tears to the point where my vision was blurry. Such was the poignancy of their relationship. Not to mention their bond with Daisy.
This is one of those books which has the propensity to induce an author crush. It made me show more want to fall.
My only regret is that I read this indoors. The air feels stale. The stillness stifling. show less

This excellent book had me turning pages like mad. Ms Wilder can weave a story with the masters. Keegan and August were both awesome. Both men were damaged in their own way yet it took an insane bear, the Alaskan wilderness and Daisy to keep them together not to mention a vindictive drug lord. The entire story was a suspenseful fight to stay alive. Highly recommended.
Wow.
I feel like I just survived a grueling survivalist test. And it was worth it.
