This is the second book in the Lords of Dus series. The story takes place shortly after the events in Lure of the Basalisk and expands on the larger plot of the series. Overman Garth is sent to the city of the Dark Gods to steal the items on the altars of their temples. Unknown to Garth, this task will have dire consequences for the peaceful trade he was really after. While in the city of the Gods, he finds the Sword of Bheleu, which ushers in a new age. The age of destruction with Garth as its unwitting harbinger. The path ahead is unclear, but Garth must continue on.
