George Harrar was a journalist for many years and has been a full-time writer since 1989. He is the author of two novels for young readers, Parents Wanted (Milkweed Editions, 2001) and Not As Crazy As I Seem; two nonfiction books on science for young readers, Signs of the Apes, Songs of the Whales and Radical Robots; and two novels for adults, The show more Spinning Man and First Tiger: Harrar has written for Cricket magazine and one of his short stories was included in the 1999 Best American Short Stories.
