solidly 3* series through and through--really interesting concepts, flawed execution :(

man what the heck was this book. Introducing all these actually awesome new powers halfway through the last book and making me wildly curious about these new kids (CLARITY???) :( I was up until like 2 last night reading through til ch21 (bc hello Anon) and then bombed an exam today. don't be me gang (told myself I wasn't going to read until the end of this week look where THAT went)
no, our kids still don't have distinct personalities which jump at me, but perhaps that is the nature/nurture question of writing superpowers ¿ idk what I was on about with that last night. I think maybe Chizara is the only one where I'm like ah yes a 16/17 year old kid show more dealing with powers (and hers I am a fan of). Beginning to think that it is the point of the series in that the kids are more who they are because of what they can do than that they got their powers because of who they are oops lmao. inverse powers are really neat and I enjoyed that. I DON'T know what I think about the magic system at large anymore after that ending, and of course the series had to go global because there was no way we'd stay in little Cambria after the previous books, but once again the focus felt so scattered--and the thing ab these books is that they're full of plot holes--and unexplained everything. man if they had PERSONALITIESS. the ending is kind of cringe ngl lol. not really the biggest fan of it. kind of really confused by the whole Nothingness thing (+vaguely wondering why Anon never flipped his power). I think a lot of these books are just... dealing with the concept of being superpowered in a world not built for it but also the powers are, after all, drawing off the world and communication and connection... to the detriment of our kids as actual people even if the conversations and struggles are good. The plot in this one was mildly lacking and I can't put my finger on why. Not very enthused by any of the romances occurring. feels like Ethan's supposed to be the protagonist but I still can't for the life of me figure out why his power is so special??? or how it like... exists??? ??? Kelsie's whole familial deal is more interesting still even though we have zero explanation for Zoe's behavior and also Chizara tryna defend that girl what is happening over there. so many plotlines never actually concluded lmao. still really dubious about Flicker's whole deal too.
idk I think these books have something going for them in the whole how do you deal with having the powers you do + how do you remain human/what makes you human/not a killer but not much else

slight edit I may be missing the entire point of the series lmao. also I do enjoy how bonkers our Cambria Five (Six) are they are all truly something and I may complain about them

man just imagine being a Normal in this mess

Our favorite group of Zeroes saves the day, but not before they are seduced and confused by the shifting ethics of their superpower lives. They grapple with such questions as where their loyalties lie, how far is too far in defending themselves, and how do they resist the darker side of their powers? Overall, an entertaining series.
I have always enjoyed reading books written by Scott Westerfeld, I've never read the other two authors before. This book did not disappoint. This is the 3rd in the zeroes series and it was just as mind blowing as the first two. I love how different of a book this was. While they have "superpowers" they're not your typical kind. It made for such an interesting and more diverse read. I would definitely be interested in reading more about these characters!
This had a great battle scene towards the end but I feel these characters are relentlessly hard on themselves. The plan of the antagonist is one that has been told before ablns I felt with the imagination. Of the creation of the characters, there could have been a better idea in how they could take over the world. Regardless, this has a hint of romance, which makes this skeptic happy.
a very good conclusion to an excellent trilogy.
My teen son loved this series.
