Ruby’s grandmother cannot make the celebration so, Ruby decides to go to her grandmother. On the way, she invites all of the animals that are in the Chinese calendar to come along with her. Although there were issues along the way, Ruby found her grandmother and they celebrated the Chinese Mew Year. Rudy looks forward to Chinese New Year, when her grandma comes to visit. This year will be different because grandma will not be there. Rudy decides to go to her grandmother house, inviting several friends along the way. Although this was a cute story, it did not include many details about the traditions of Chinese New Year. This book is an easy read for children. It follows the story of Ruby who always celebrates Chinese New Year with her grandmother, but this year Ruby's grandmother cannot make it to their celebration so Ruby has to make her way to her. Ruby brings many friends along the way including Rat, Cat, Dog, Dragon, and others who are all symbols of the Chinese Zodiac. They all bring a gift that is part of a traditional Chinese New Year feast. At the end of the book they are reunited with Ruby's grandmother. The book included extras such as the legend of the Chinese Zodiac and instructions for crafts for the celebration like paper fans.
