Excerpt from Cart Et Alia Munimenta Qu Ad Dominium De Glamorgan Pertinent, Vol. 1: 1102-1350 Besides these, there exists, in manuscript, a considerable mass of notes and comments upon the above texts, forming the ground for a History of the Norman Lordship of Glamorgan. The subject is not one in which the present inhabitants of the modern County show any great interest, nor is it very probable that these commenta will ever be turned to account; nevertheless it has seemed better first to print the records alone. Of the value of his own work, it is not for its author to express an opinion, but concerning the value of the records themselves, as the materials for local history, there can be no doubt. Dedication
To the memory of Robert Oliver Jones, of Fonmon Castle, during twenty two years chairman of Quarter Sessions for the county of Glamorgan, and an industrious, accurate, and successful, though silent, investigator of its ancient records, this collection of them is inscribed, by his old and intimate friend their editor.
First words
The documents here collected and printed are derived from various sources; some from the Public Record Office, some from the British Museum, some from the papers of the late Mr. G. G. Francis, of Swansea, and others from the family records of Dr. J. C. Stradling Carne, of St. Donat's Castle, to all of whom I have to express my obligations.

Preface.
