Description
Lila Delaney never claimed to be entirely psychic...just slightly psychic. But any ability she might have had disappeared the minute Lila's visions led her and the police to a missing heiress...healthy, happy and tied to the bed of Lila's fiancé. Broadcast live on national television, the incident was enough to make Lila hightail it out of town. Lila's journey brought her and her best friend Pepper to a small Virginia town. All too soon the woman who just wanted to be left alone was show more indulging in mint juleps and moonlit celebrations, becoming attracted to a too-secretive man and getting involved in an unsolved murder. If only her psychic abilities would return, Lila might just figure out what she was getting into next.... show lessTags

For a light read, this was a very enjoyable book. Not a lot of emphasis on the psychic, but a touch of a mystery and a little quirkiness go a long way. I enjoyed this one.
The story begins when Lila Delaney, doctor of psychology and psychic, helps local police find a senator's missing daughter. Her intuition takes her straight to the daughter, and Lila's cheating fiance. Flash forward 8 months later, Lila and best friend Pepper, move to a small farm in Murray, VA . Once at the farm, Lila finds a man residing in the guest home on the property, Joe McCaffrey. Lila has her humiliating past, and Joe, former town baseball hero gone major league, now lives on the farm, a murder suspect in his wife's missing persons case. The story line is predictable, though the bed-jumping not nearly as prolific as often found in today's stories - making it, to me more more likable and actually, believable.
