This is one of the first books I bought about Japan. I wanted it for the cultural aspect, not that I really planned to put it in practice. I loved the insight and the little experiences which formed his view/take on Japanese customs. The more I have learned though, I have found some of his statements to be erroneous/skewed, but overall, I still love this book!

Excellent book for people looking to understand the Japanese language in ways most classes will not teach you. Will ultimately allow you to speak like a native.
