Pilkey gets better with each book. He has hit on an elegant way to introduce kids to classic lit. Now, I might have chosen other books that kids get to earlier - the ones he has chosen so far are definitely high school - but he is is doing a superb job of pushing reading. In the fifth book in the series he brings in pieces (and themes) of Lord of the Flies while at the same time appealing to a younger elementary audience through things like knock-knock jokes. And, for the cat lovers out there, there is a section at the end on the benefits of reading to cats.
Dog Man: Lord of the Fleas is another hilarious and action-packed adventure from Dav Pilkey. In this book, Petey the Cat faces a group from his past called the Fleas, who come back to cause trouble. Dog Man and his friends must team up to stop them, leading to wild battles, silly jokes, and plenty of heart. I liked how the story mixes laugh-out-loud humor with messages about friendship and teamwork. The comic-style art and flip-o-ramas make it even more fun to read. Fans of Dog Man will not be disappointed—this one is full of energy, excitement, and lots of laughs.
Wunderbar.

What can I say? Imo they keep getting better, and I keep inhaling them. Thank goodness I didn't start when only the first few were out. I *might* get burnt out by #11, the current newest.
(Do read them in order. Recaps only summarize main developments, not inside jokes etc.)
Question: How many of you noticed the nod to [b:Where the Wild Things Are|19543|Where the Wild Things Are|Maurice Sendak|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1384434560l/19543._SX50_.jpg|3020535]? If you didn't, go back and reread both books.

All of the books in this series are great .....my children love both the books and movie. The flip-o-rama sections are a cool addition, but are a torn page waiting to happen.
This book is fun because It has FLIP-ORAMA and amazing because it’s about super heros and funny
