This is a thorough introduction to the topic for the interested general reader, with nothing particularly contentious in it. Lots of sequences of very detailed battle maps - sadly let down by a confusing layout for the captions.
An easy reading good introduction to warfare of the age, the similar book detailing the ancient world also worth having.
