Very enjoyable book about family relationships, miscommunications and new understandings.
An unemotional, distant mother has 3 daughters who specialize in 3 things: family, lawyering, and partying. She invites them all to a house she just bought in Maine and each go, thinking she was the only one she asked. Then they stayed on because she wasn’t there yet and gradually began mending fences in their relationships. There was a handsome gardener that became involved and some surprising developments before the mother actually came; told her daughters why she had bought the house -- because years before she had had an affair with the gardener based on mutual attraction, but left with her husband and coped by becoming non-emotional. They all mended fences, but mom died the next day and the youngest finally married the first show more gardener’s son who was the present one. show less
