Description
One of acclaimed author Debbie Macomber's classic novels, this is a tender story of two people daring to be more than "just friends."Lily Morrissey knows exactly what she wants in a husband: a big bank account. Not that she's greedy or shallow; she just needs the security for herself and her beloved grandmother. But husband-hunting is harder than she expected, especially with her best friend Jake in the way. In fact, Jake—who would be perfect for her if he weren't so committed to show more everything money can't buy—is becoming downright distracting, with those jade eyes and that disarming grin.
All Jake wants is the freedom to sail his boat, write his stories, and live life on his own terms. Then his best friend tells him she's going groom shopping. But Jake can't imagine life without Lily or bear the thought of her in another man's arms. How can a rootless guy living a no-strings existence and a woman looking for someone she can count on both get what they need? By letting their hearts choose love.
BONUS: This edition includes excerpts from Debbie Macomber's Last One Home and The Inn at Rose Harbor.

Lily Morrissey is tired of playing "Moon River" every night in the hotel lounge. She needs to meet—and marry—a man who can take care of her and her grandmother. But how do you go about finding a single, wealthy man?
Her best friend, Jake Carson, agrees to help her, and the hunt is on. But while they're busy looking for a rich husband, Lily discovers that her feelings for Jake are changing.

"Friends And Then Some" by Debbie Macomber was a beautiful classic read of Lily and Jake's romance. The author has a way that her reads as very enjoyable and a light read. This was somewhat a little predictable but still a good read. I really enjoyed how this author was able to finally get these two together. I found this read was one that once you start reading it will be hard to put down until the end. I found the characters were all well developed, believable and my favorite one beside the hero and heroine would be the eccentric Gram.

I always enjoy Debbie Macomber's books. They are always pleasant to read and have happily ever after endings. This is one her earlier books and you can tell that it is not written by the polished author that she is today. So even though it was a quick, light read, I found it to be pretty disappointing.
In Macomber’s romance novel, Lily Morrissey fantasizes about a life like “Moon River.” With a grandmother to care for, she would be willing to “settle” for just anyone who could support them. When she hooks best friend, Jake Carsen, into helping find someone suitable, she is stunned to realize that her feelings for him go beyond friendship. Could these two friends build a life together?
A great “must read” from a master story teller.
