The Heartbreaker is the third and final book in the Chandler Brothers series by Carly Phillips. It's my second favorite book and the only one where I didn't dislike one of the two main characters. Both of them were ok. They had some good characteristics and some bad. For example, I couldn't understand why Sloane treated her adoptive parents so horribly when she was claiming that she loved them and had such a strong connection with a man she barely knew. That whole plotline would have made more sense if she was feeling out of place before she discovered the truth that sent her to Yorkshire Falls. Chase was acting like the typical male in a romance book and I expected more from him.
What was surprising is the identity of Sloane's show more biological parents and especially her father. I didn't see that coming. Everything that had to do with her father was surprising and one of the main reasons I kept reading. If Chase wasn't so dense and had made a great grand gesture, I would have said that the romance was also good, but that man disappointed me.
Now that I have finished the series, I gotta say that in my opinion the series will either be loved or hated by the readers (there is no in between) and I would suggest to give it a try. show less

A nice story. It was more about Sloane and her family I think than Chase's but that's okay because we've already really gotten to know his family in the last two books and I was really captured by Sloane's situation and the way she chose to deal with it. When it came to Chase and Sloane romantically it was a bit of same old same old. The Chandler brothers are quite alike when it comes to giving up their bachelorhood. 3 Stars
