Just can't do it. Not enough here to hold my interest. Another addition to the "Never Finished" list. ( )

Montana Sky
4 Stars

Half-sisters, Tess, Lily and Willa Mercy are forced by the terms of their fathers’ will to live on the family ranch together for one year. Against the backdrop of a Montana ranch, the sisters learn to love and trust each other and the men in their lives as danger looms from outside forces.

Just as enjoyable as the first time around.

Each of the Mercy sisters is engaging in her own right whether it be the spoiled and sophisticated Tess whose met the one man patient enough to accept her foibles and all; timid and vulnerable Lily who learns that the right man can indeed be trusted, and strong and fearless Willa who realizes that she can let her guard down and rely on the man she loves.

The suspense elements in the book are intense and exciting with two equally deranged villains, and the writing is some of Nora’s best with delightful descriptions, incisive characterization and snappy dialogue.

All in all, an entertaining family saga with charming characters and fantastic descriptions that more than withstand the test of time. ( )

Classic Nora Roberts!

Three step-sisters meet for the first time at their father's funeral. A father who was mean and no one will miss. But wait, he continues to pull the strings through stipulations in his will. And there's three available, sexy guys who are just there all the time. Throw in a requirement that everyone stay on the ranch for a full year, stir, and watch the sparks fly!

Fun read! ( )

Three strangers, sisters because one man married and left each of their mothers, learn the terms of his will and get a life changing choice.

Tess, Lily and Willa never really knew one another except for a name. Now their father has died and as he did in life, he has thrown the ultimate monkey wrench at them. In order to inherit the Montana ranch he valued more than even his children the three of them must spend a year together on the ranch.
For Willa it's a no brainer, this is her home...but the thought of those two strangers coming in and disrupting her life and getting a part of what should be hers alone...well she's none too happy. Tess, the show girls daughter and famous screenwriter wants nothing to do with the ranch but the thought of losing out on all that money....hmm, what's a girl to do. Oh wait, it will upset Willa's way of life for her to be there, then let's do it. Lily, poor Lily is running from an abusive husband who refuses to give her up. She took vows to love, honor and obey until death....he's going to make sure she lives up to those vows no matter what some piece of paper says.
Now we have Nate and Ben...neighbors who have been placed in the position of overseeing that the terms of the will are met. And they are to make sure Willa doesn't run the place in to the ground. Nate is the Yale educated lawyer/horse rancher who catches the eye of Tess. Ben is the pain in the ass that Willa could do without....or can she? Lily meets and falls for Adam, Willa's half-brother from her mother's side.
On top of the trying to keep the ranch going, get used to one another and finding if they like one another we have a mad man who's killing animals and then moves on to people. We also know that JC, a newish ranch hand at Ben's spread, is actually Lily's ex-husband...and he's not happy, not at all.
Okay...character development was good. Not too wordy when describing places and events. Yet for some reason it felt a little long to me. Half way through I wanted to put it down and leave it but I'm not a quitter and figured...half way might as well finish. Doesn't mean I did it in record breaking time. Wasn't a page turner for me, more a ---have some time to kill what's on hand kind of book. I'm just glad it was all wrapped up in this one novel and she didn't try to stretch it out into a series.

Epigraph
The world stands out on either side
No wider than the heart is wide;
Above the world is stretched the sky, --
No higher than the soul is high.
The heart can push the sea and land
Farther away on either hand;
The soul can split the sky in two,
And let the face of God shine through.
But East and West will pinch the heart
That can not keep them pushed apart;
And he whose soul is flat -- the sky
Will cave in on him by and by.
