1945 Tormented Loyalty: The Story of a German Aristocrat Who Defied Hitler, by Christopher Sykes (read 27 Sep 1985) This tells of Adam von Trott zu Solz, who was born in 1909 and was executed 26 Aug 1944 as an aftermath of the attempt on Hitler's life on 20 July 1944. The book is not well-written but it was of considerable interest. I really should read a good book on the attempt on Hitler's life. Von Trott had a somewhat ambivalent career, though I am sure he consistently was against Hitler. He was a descendant of John Jay! Not an uninteresting story.
