Description

A small-town mayor's search for a new Santa yields a handsome surprise in this heartwarming holiday romance by a New York Times bestseller.

Returning to Branding Iron, Texas, is Travis Morgan's last resort, and the abandoned ranch he inherited isn't much more welcoming than the prison cell where he spent the last three years doing time for a tragic accident. Completely without funds or family, Travis finds celebrating Christmas is the last thing on his mind, but there's no escaping the show more holiday spirit in this close-knit little town—not with Branding Iron's longtime Santa retiring, and sweetly stubborn Mayor Maggie Delaney determined to find a replacement. When her no-nonsense façade slips to reveal the sensual, vulnerable woman beneath it, Travis realizes Maggie just might be as lonely as he is—and that this holiday season, love could be the gift that heals them both.

A tragic accident landed Travis in prison for three years. Now free, he’s returned to Branding Iron, Texas to live at a ranch he inherited. Without family or money, Travis doesn’t plan on celebrating Christmas but it might not be possible to escape the holiday spirit when living in Branding Iron.

After enjoying THE SOUND OF SLEIGHBELLS, book six of Janet Dailey’s The Christmas Tree Ranch series, I decided to start back at the beginning and read the rest in order. Book one, MY KIND OF CHRISTMAS, was a quick holiday read, though I didn’t enjoy it as much. The chemistry between the characters felt forced. I am a fan of small-town Christmas settings though and did like seeing where the series started. Even though this particular book show more wasn’t the biggest hit for me, I do look forward to continuing with the rest to see how the series develops. show less
I'm not a fan of this one. The writing itself isn't horrible, but I felt like things would happen out of nowhere. There would be no lead up or anything. Travis was okay, and it was explained why he acted the way he did. Maggie on the other hand stuck her nose into anything she wanted to, and felt like she was justified doing it. I'm sorry, but just because there is going to be a parade doesn't give you the right to interfere in people's personal lives. I honestly didn't make it to the end to find out what happens. I just wasn't invested in the story or the characters.
I voluntarliy reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
