Description

When Allie's crayon breaks, she stomps, smashes, crashes, and throws a tantrum, a fuss, and a fit. Her big brother wants to help her feel better. Will punching a pillow, squeezing a toy, or breathing deep breaths help Allie let go of her angry feelings, one layer at a time?

Allie's brother helps her calm down after she erupts in anger when a crayon breaks.

This is a good book for helping kids talk about emotions, including recognizing them and managing them. I really liked the visualization of Allie changing from a furry red monster to a cooler blue monster to finally back to herself. It's also nice to see a pair of African-American siblings in a book that isn't about race.
This book is about Allie, Allie has big feelings and doesn't know how to control them. Her brother helps her work through her emotions and turn back into Allie. AGES 3-7
