Cuddled and Caring is a cute book for 2- 3 year olds. The book, with few words, depicts the nurturing relationship between parent and child that exists across species. The illustrations are detailed and well conceived. The author has included a page of discussion questions to involve the child on a deeper level than just the rehearsal of the text.

This is a sweet book about little ones who are cuddled and carried whether they are panda bears, wolves, dolphins, koalas, penguins and other wildlife and it goes through the different animals until they come to a mom and her baby and she is nursing her baby. It also has a section to have a discussion with children and ask questions about what sounds each animal makes as well as a spot for what names we call animals and their young. This would be a great one on one story for bedtime as well as a storytime book with a question and answer after the story. I would recommend this for any collection.
This book shows different examples of how mother mammals interact with their young. The illustrations may be scientifically accurate, but the layout is visually abrupt as far as text placement and the incompatibility of visual elements across the spreads which contain two different animals. This makes the book a little overpowering visually.

I do appreciate the optional teacher’s guide available for free download, and the bilingual text increases the book’s educational value. However, my preschooler did not find the book engaging and after the novelty wore off, there was no desire for repeat readings.

Some audiences might find the strong pro-breastfeeding and attachment parenting message to be a bit propaganda-like and shy away from show more using the book if they are uncomfortable with the images in the “Connection” section at the end. show less

I loved reading this book. I think the illustrations are very soothing, and the use of both Spanish and English to describe them mixes the concepts of caring and cuddling between mothers and babies along with wild animals in nature and bi-lingualism. I do wish fathers had been more involved but am glad that they used the concept of breast-feeding as that fits in with the natural theme.
I was a little confused about the word "carried" in the title as it is used in only one picture where the mother and baby seem to be cuddling. I am thinking a different title might be "caring and bonding" which was used in the letter that came with the book. Overall I give it a very good recommendation.

"Cuddled and Carried" skews far younger than the upper range of the 0-4 year age recommendation it lists. The artwork is engaging, scenes of mother and child animals interacting. However, the choice of formatting and font results in a final product that feels somewhat unfinished.

In terms of content, the parallel English and Spanish text was straightforward, extolling the virtues of motherhood and the ways that mothers and children interact. I actually felt that the glossary in the back was a great addition -- a list of animal names in each language, both adult and child versions of each animal word.

An individual child may find much to love here. As with most books for a younger audience, it will be the way that the mother (or father) show more interacts with the child that really brings it to life. show less

This book for very young learners goes through several animal families and how the mother cares for the baby (grooms, guides, cuddles, carries, snuggles, etc). There are no examples of how father animals interact.

The pictures and language are simple, usually with one animal family per page (though sometimes the animal pair/family is spread on two pages). There are only a few words per page- on one side in English and on the other side in Spanish. At the back is a table of how to say the animals (adult, baby, group) in English and Spanish.

Overall, it is a nice simple book, with pretty illustrations of animal families, but I would have liked more representation of fathers. I like that it shows lots of different types of caring.

I loved this picture book for children of all ages. I received this for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. I've given it a 5* rating. In it's simple way, it was uplifting and the artwork was wonderful. I liked how they linked animal families to human families. So I will be giving this to my grandchildren. It also has some start a conversation suggestions in the back. Nice touch.
