A sword and sorcery tale featuring Kuttner's recuring protagonist Elak of Atlantis. A character I have some difficulty taking seriously for a reason Kuttner probably couldn't foresee: in my native Swedish, elak means "mean, malicious", being typically used of naughty children and characters in children's books (it doesn't apply to serious grown-up evil).

Ignoring that, the story is told at breakneck speed, while the characters and the Atlantean background are painted very sketchily. To my tastes, it's too much action and too little reason to care about it; but I imagine it should appeal to Conan fans.

The titular spawn of Dagon are reminicent of Lovecraft's Deep Ones, probably deliberately so.
