Checking in with my children became more important than ever when I experienced a health crisis during my third pregnancy. My children were three and sixteen months. I began to see that I needed a clever way to communicate with them and encourage them to share all of their feelings inside and learn their view of their inner world. I began to see over time that they needed consistent conversations and check-ins and that, indeed, this approach was fun for them and brought about unique ways of sharing and healing. Ironically, reading through this story is healing for adults as well. Many of us held back our feelings as kids and therefore are not fully equipped to help our own children express themselves. When it comes to our relationships, we all have full and empty cups inside and some degree in between. Talking about it and getting in touch with these feelings is an unbelievable way to free ourselves to live our lives to the fullest and become who we are meant to be! No library descriptions found. |
