This book would be great for middle school, particularly boys. The characters are very relatable and the story teaches a valuable lesson about the importance of friendship. It is also humorous, so I could see middle school students enjoying reading this book during free time. This could also be used to teach a lesson on team work and resolving arguments. ( )

i liked this book because it was funny but it was hard to take a side between jeff and wiley because the POV changes so much. ( )

OOPS. Snoopy. Iceman. Gas Bag. Mr. Huge. Deer in Headlights. Wiley Adamson and Jeff Greenbaum are best friends, but they’re also the best nicknames in Pennsylvania. Almost everyone at OOPS has been nicknamed by the duo. Then, 6B gets a new teacher named “Mr. Huge” (who acts a lot like a football coach). The same day, Cassandra Levy comes to school, and Jeff and Wiley each discover they have feelings for her. They than discover that the annual school dance is coming up, and each boy starts getting ready to impress Cassandra! But who will Cassandra invite to the dance???

Readers who enjoy realistic fiction will enjoy this book because it states real-life problems like friendship issues, bullying and teasing, jealousy, and problems at school; all with the special touch of humor that makes Gordon Kormon’s books so special. Advanced readers may not enjoy the book as younger readers, but it is still a very interesting read! And in the end, everyone turns out triumphant! ( )
