A 7th grade football player named Danny Owens is dedicating his football season to his NFL legend of a father who recently passed. Everything was going great until his english teacher caught Danny cheating on a test. He was cheating becasue he cant read. In order to play this season he needs to pass english, but if he cant, he will let everyone down. I think this book is great for someone who may not like reading or who is a struggling reader. I feel this delves into the mind of someone who has a learning disability and it shows that anyone can overcome a challenge if they try. ( )

The book is based on a true story. He is faced with adversity and cannot handle the pressure. I feel that this is more a young male book. Specially if they play a sport and want to go pro. ( )

Danny Owens is dedicating his seventh-grade season to his Super Bowl champion father, who recently passed away. Danny promises everyone that, just like his dad, he’ll dominate the big game at the end of the season and earn a spot on the high school varsity team. Then his English teacher catches him cheating on a test. Even though Danny can retake it, he knows there’s no point. He can’t read. And if Danny can’t pass this class, he won’t be eligible to play in the championship game that could unlock his future. This book is important to students because some students are dealing with the passing of their parents or living up to their name. They have the pressures of doing as well as their parents did. Danny has trouble reading and this is also a major problem in the middle school classroom. Many students are at a lower reading level or cannot read due to being Dyslexic or LEP. ( )
