“A majority of states still have a sales tax on period products because they are considered luxury items. Meanwhile, products such as Rogaine and Viagra are not.”

Wow, wow, WOW!
I don't know what it was about this book, but I loved every single word of it. I'm not kidding. I don't know if it's because I'm a teen, or maybe it's because I'm a girl, but this book has so many good messages and true facts in it.
Going into the book, I was a little skeptical, because I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to stick to listening to a five hour long book about periods. Let me just say, Nadya Okamoto made every page very entertaining and fun to read/listen to.
I love everything she has to say in this book. I agree 100% (Political show more views, women's rights, sexuality rights, EVERYTHING!!)
I have learned sooooo much from this book! It's filled with with information that would have been so very helpful when I started my period!
I really admire the strong sense of feminism in Period Power, and also how everything in the book was very relatable. I also really admire the author and her work. I've seen her on TikTok, and seriously can't believe how much work she has put into her company and writing a book. It's amazing!
I believe all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexuality, menstruating or not, should read Period Power. It shows the outrageousness of men deciding what menstruators can do with their body.
Amazing book, with an even more amazing author!!

“we have free toilet paper, so wanting the same for menstrual products is not extreme. This is a normal human function.”

Throughout history, periods have been hidden from the public. They’re taboo. They’re embarrassing. They’re gross. And due to a crumbling or nonexistent national sex ed program, they are misunderstood. Because of these stigmas, a status quo has been established to exclude people who menstruate from the seat at the decision-making table, creating discrimination like the tampon tax, medicines that favor male biology, and more. Period Power aims to explain what menstruation is, shed light on the stigmas and resulting biases, and create a strategy to end the silence and prompt conversation about periods.
