Author/illustrator Ruth Rosner chronicles a day in the life of Nattie Witch (full name: Natalya) in this engaging little picture-book. From waking up and getting prepared for her day, to her many classes and activities at school; from her after-school play with friends, to her dinner and story time with her family, Nattie has a full and very witchy day...

As someone who enjoys witchy picture-books - a perennial pet project of mine - I was pleased to discover Nattie Witch, a title first published in 1989 that, despite my almost obsessive interest in the story type, was hitherto completely unknown to me. I found it quite charming, appreciating its simple, descriptive narrative, which lists all sorts of everyday activities - having show more breakfast, riding to school, feeding the classroom pet - and the way in which this ordinary seeming narrative is paired with most extraordinary visuals, in the accompanying artwork. Recommended to picture-book readers who enjoy witchy fare that is more on the sweet side. show less
