The main character is these poems is nature – the sea, shoreline, wind and waves – and can be felt as a physical presence throughout. Dyer's vivid descriptions conjured up the smell of the sea, the feel of the wind, the call of seabirds. The language is playful, lyrical, and at times serene. It was a joy to read.

This is quite the collection of poetry. The author uses superbly descriptive language, as well as vivid imagery in the form of colors, sounds and setting descriptors which I really appreciated. The poems themselves didn't evoke much emotion for me, though I'm not sure they were meant to. I felt they were meant to be appreciated for what they were discussing, not any particular feelings they might evoke.
