Description

Cam Brickley and his pro hockey teammates bet on everything: who can win five faceoffs in a row, who can do forty pushups in less than a minute, who can eat a ghost pepper without puking. But when his buddies bet him he can't date the same woman-like, say, the hot blonde over at the bar-for two months and not fall in love, he'll take that bet all day. Then he'll laugh all the way to the hockey arena, where they'll be washing his jock straps for the rest of the season, because Cam's never show more giving up his bachelor lifestyle. Olivia Lockwood, heiress to the Lockwood Industries fortune, is used to people using her for her money and family connections. When Cam Brickley hits on her in a club, Olivia's first instinct is to brush him off. But he couldn't be using her for her money, since he has more than enough of his own. Cam's gorgeous and built, and it would be no hardship to go out with him . . . besides, he'd be the perfect spokesperson for the children's charity she works with. Maybe it's time for her to start using people. Cam and Olivia are both in it for something. What they don't know yet is that they're playing for keeps. Contains mature themes. show less

This was okay for me. The writing flowed well for the most part, but I did skim a little bit. I haven't read any of the other stories in this series, and there were a lot of other people mentioned. It got a little overwhelming at times. Olivia and Cam had pretty good chemistry, and I liked them most of the time. Even though Olivia finds out about the bet pretty early on, I did get aggravated with the way she acted with Cam's response to his friends about it. She had feelings, and was mad when Cam didn't admit he had them too (for the first time mind you) in front of everyone. The deal was supposed to be a fling. Cam eventually comes around. The ending was sweet, and I was happy to see these two get their HEA. I will be on the look out show more for other titles from this author.

Kelly Jamieson leads the league with GAME ON, the last book in the Aces Hockey series. Cam Brickley’s teammates bet him that he cannot date the same woman for two months and not fall in love with her. Olivia Lockwood needs a spokesman for her charity. They both want something from the other, and neither one of them is interested in an actual relationship.

As always, Kelly Jamieson does an amazing job with her character development. Initially, Cam and Olivia used each other; Cam to win a bet and Olivia for PR for her charity. As they get to know each other, feelings develop. I like Olivia. She is an heiress and has been used by people in the past for her connections. Her self-esteem is not the best because she has been verbally beaten show more down by her family. She is an honorable woman with admirable goals. Cam is a good guy. He’s great with the kids at Olivia’s charity. I like how he defends Olivia.

The plot was skillfully executed and interesting. Being a Chicago, I appreciated that this series takes place there. I love all the history that was shared in this story. GAME ON is a hard book to put down and may cause a book hangover. The ending to GAME ON was perfect for not only the book but the series. I am sad this series is over, but I am thrilled that Kelly Jamieson is coming out with a new hockey series (Wynn Hockey) that Aces players will be making an appearance in. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Game on is the last book in the Aces Hockey series and my biggest question was whether or not the author would finally allow the team to win the finals or not. Since there is no other book about these guys, I was leaning towards the first option, but you never know. I would have loved to see an extended epilogue with all the couples from the previous books because I will miss them. At least, in my opinion, the author did a great job with their stories and the end of the hockey team. I am hoping for some cameos on her new hockey series.

If I separated the book into two parts, one being the hockey and the other being the romance, I would say that the hockey aspect was much better. Cam and Olivia's relationship was too lukewarm for my show more liking and I was expecting more from Kelly Jamieson. The spark was there, but the wow factor wasn't there. Something about them didn't work for me and I think it might be Cam's immature-ish behavior. I needed him to man up and not run like his life was depending on it. The running part was something that felt to me like it was just added for the drama and nothing else.

The book overall was good though. The heroine mostly and somewhat less the hero, were likable, we saw the heroes from the previous books, I got some things I wanted in this story and the pace was just as it should have been.

Loved Cam and Olivia’s story. A unique plot line which drew me in and kept me guessing.
Hotshot pro hockey player Cam Brickley loves women, but relationships, sorry, no can do. That’s where he and his buddy team mates differ, as lately it seems several of them have found a partner to settle down with, and even started family’s. They also have a little fun betting on ridiculous things like eating hot peppers and speed pushups, and they decide it’s impossible for Cam to date the hot girl at the bar for two months and not fall in love with her. Easy say’s Cam, your on.
But Olivia turns out to be a very interesting woman and spending time with her becomes a pleasure and he wants more.
Cam finds himself in his first relationship for show more several years, and he’s enjoying himself. But the two month date is coming fast, they both have a decision to make.
I liked Olivia, but she had a few hidden insecurities. And Cam, well, he was a bad boy, single, but a bad past romantic experience had taught Cam a lesson and he wasn’t going to get burned again.
A great read, very enjoyable. I highly recommend it!

I've received a ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

If you read it once, you read it twice. The overall premise of the series has been something I read.... Numberous times. Group of friends make a bet that one their own: hot, talented and overall ladies man can make the equally insanely hot girl fall in love with him and then a whirlwind romance ensures.

I'm not saying that this overused story premise wasn't a good read, cause it was and I've very much enjoyed it, but it's not original. Despite that, if you're looking to read a sports romance filled with funny moments and great characters, definitely give this a try. It stood out a little more thentthe similar series I have read in the past and would definitely recommend show more to fellow readers for a quick read. show less
Game On (Aces Hockey, #8) by Kelly Jamieson

Breaking the rules is his favorite past time. A heartbreaker with a bad boy image and lustful good looks, Cam has never met a challenge he can't conquer. Until Olivia. Olivia wants to matter. Her sole purpose in life is to be more than a dollar sign people hope to acquire. When Cam crosses her path, she hopes he's the one who can see beyond the money into the wounded heart underneath. Could this be real or a fantasy too good to be true? Jamieson can break a heart, tempt a soul and win a smile in one sitting. Game On is the perfect example of why she's a MUST HAVE on my Ereader.
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) I really hope you are keeping up with the series, you don't have to read previous to enjoy, however you will enjoy it more. This is Cam's story and his love interest Olivia. Cam isn't interested and falling in love as all his team mates and friends seem to be doing, he just doesn't understand why they would. So his friends the loving hockey players we love and enjoy made a bet with him and him being the kind that does not like to lose accepts it. The bet well their are 2. get Olivia out on a date and second date her for 2 months, easy peasy he thinks. Olivia is instantly attracted to him but does not really trust the opposite sex since many use her for her connection (her family is super show more rich) but when she meets Cam she thinks she will go out with him to get him to be the spokes person for her charity. But things are never as easy as we think or they think, the more time spent the more they like each other, but will it be all roses? Well grab a copy and Enjoy! show less
