I liked the book, Losers Inc, by Claudia Mills. First, the author uses descriptive language to enhance the story. For example she describes how the character is standing by saying, "Ethan Winfield straightened his shoulders as he stood against the measuring tape on the back of the kitchen door, trying to make himself taller." The descriptive language allows the reader to paint a picture in their head of the story. Second, the book pushes readers to think about common issues in school. The books main message is to not label people, and the book pushes readers to think about the impact of not only labeling others, but also labeling yourself.
This book shows the good and bad in middle school. It also shows a good definition of friendship. Ethan and his friend, Julius, are in love with the new student teacher, Grace. They are usually slackers but Ethan wants to change his ways, for the better, so Grace can fall for him. The class nerd, Lizzie, is in love with Ethan but he wants to make it clear he does not like her. I like how Mills show that even if your best isn't good enough for what you want it is good for something.
You don't have to be a loser to get everything you want in life. As long as you try your best, you can never be a loser.
