Peter Alden is a leading naturalist and writer who lives in Concord, Massachusetts. He has traveled to over 100 countries and the seven continents, studying birds and leading nature tours for over 35 years. He has seen half of the approximately 9,000 species of birds in the world. Throughout his distinguished career, Alden has been affiliated with show more the National Audubon Society and was an integral part of the formation of the American Birding Association. His is an international lecturer for museums and speaks local birding societies. He has also published coloring books for children. Alden has written a comprehensive series of National Audubon Society Regional Field Guides to Florida, California, New England, and the Pacific Northwest. Each guide identifies 1,000 items of interest, such as birds, butterflies, mammals, wildflowers, and trees; includes an overview of the region's natural history; and lists some of the area's best places to visit, such as wildlife sanctuaries, parks, and beaches.
