This book explores the danger that runaways face when living on the streets.
Sixteen year old Sara Rivers is a runaway who is forced into a SUV in Tampa, FL.
Her teenage friends once did a favor for a reformed prostitute named Nicki. She told them that if they ever needed help to come to her. Now they want her help in recovering her friend before it's too late. Since they are runaways themselves, they can't go to the police.
Nicki is friends with Michael Sykora. Sykora is a hit man specializine in eliminating criminals who prey on the innocent. He particularly dislikes child molestors.
Michael is assisted by his friend, Sean, who is also a hit man, with a conscience. They find that there is a fundamentalist religious community. One thing show more this community does is to assist parents who feel that their children have strayed. The powers in this community often resort to abducting the suspected children and force them to join their cult existence. However, there are complications and all is not what it seems.
The characters are well described. It is easy for the reader to cheer Sykora as attempts to save the child and put a stop to the criminal activity.
I recommend the book for those who want to be entertained with a good story but also to learn something at the same time. show less
