I have always been a fan of short stories, and I'm always looking for authors who can pull them off well. Gonzalez did just that with this book. As a mom with two young kids (a 5 year old and a 7 week old) novels are a little overwhelming at the moment. They are like enormous, 7-layer chocolate cakes. I really want it, but I know that I just don't have the time to finish it. "When the Darkness Falls" is like a box of high end, chocolate truffles. I could sit down and enjoy one or two, and have my sweet tooth completely satisfied. And when my cravings kicked back in, I could dive back between the covers of the book and indulge myself some more. This is book was dark, delicious and sinful, and I enjoyed every bite.
