This book is like a background of a romance novel. Brian Weiss had two patients – which he found out separately were soul mates through his past-regression therapies. Father-daughter and ex-lovers in previous lives.

Brian took most of the book to put the connection together and then wondered if he should break his professional code of ethics by revealing the past lives of his patients to each other. Subtlety he arranged to have their appointments one after another … hoping for that one magical moment when they look into each other eyes and fall in love again …

The romance though took maybe 40% of the book. Brian also revealed some other patient’s stories … revealing more of Catherine, the patient that started it all, some show more philosophies and ideas he derived from the past others (and his own) life evidence, and showing some of the secrets of the time BETWEEN past lives.

However, this book seemed like the most flippant of all his books thus far. There was lots of rehashing for an audience looking for an easier book to digest than the others. There were very few ‘OH WOW!’ moments.

Try to read the other books of Brian Weiss first … but this might be a good introduction if you are having problems with the others.

So readable and intriguing, who cares about Weiss' awful, and I do mean awful, transitions and descriptions? I read it in a day, and I am never one to say that. The story of Pedro and Elizabeth meeting in the airport at the end was worth everything. That, and the story of the woman and her over-the-edge-of-the-bed hand-holding. I feel comforted. I feel excited, even!
I don't know if I believe in reincarnation and past lives, I haven't read enough or know enough about it to form an opinion. I am not sure I believe everything written in the book either. Nevertheless, I think it is an interesting subject that must be approached with an open mind. I loved the book and the writing, I know that I will read more now of Dr. Weiss's books.
‘Only love is real’ is not merely a love story but a story of ‘LOVE’ itself which is the essence of life that never dies. The story reveals an enchanting journey or a miracle which takes place in Elizabeth and Pedro’s present life which also connects them with their past, told from the point of view of Brian L. Weiss. The concept of “soul mate” which he explains is not just about lovers it something more.. beyond that, something eternal. The experience that he shares with so many patients proves every single time that life is something beyond just leading it. One of the thing which caught my attention was the way he explained.. how a soul enters in to a body and the reason it exists which was just mesmerizing. Likewise show more there are so many things revealed in this book which just can’t be explained but can only be experienced through reading.

Before reading this book I never believed in reincarnation or rebirth but now I do.. thanks to author Brian L. Weiss, who unfolds each and every part of this concept by giving a meaningful explanation to it with his experience which one cannot simply deny. The concept of soul has been explained in so many books, I don’t deny it, but for me this will be one of those books which made me believe in this concept and will definitely reread it whenever I forget the meaning of life.
