This first portion of the book reads like a self-guided tour of the castle. It includes the castle's architecture and furnishings with a minimal amount of history and provenance included. It is of most interest to a person touring the castle in person. Some photographs are color, but many are black and white. A history of the castle and its owners presented at the end of the book will interest a more general audience. I found many of the biographical sketches quite interesting.
