GaryVee's books and YouTube videos have been an inspiration to me for years. In "Crushing It," you get a combination of advice on how to win on social media platforms and examples of how entrepreneurs are making it happen. I especially liked how the book included case studies that go beyond the author who happens to run a $100 million+ digital media company (i.e. has access to deep resources that many do not. To be fair, he did achieve success with Wine Library TV etc without that resource base). Some of the examples I already knew (e.g. John Lee Dumas of Entrepreneur on Fire and Pat Flynn) and some were brand new. If you liked Gary's first book "Crush It," this book will give you added depth and examples on the same ideas.

There are show more two areas where the book could have been stronger. First, I would liked to see more data on what goes into building a business on social media platforms. What are some metrics/best practices for when to make a sale offer or other promotion? Second, I would like more detailed examples and guidance on how to "Biz dev" (business development). This concept seems to amount to "connect with people with a big following and get them to promote you." It's a good idea but I'd like to see more about it. I also found it a bit curious that the author seems to be a bit negative on direct response style marketing. show less
I was hoping this would be a great marketing book for our B2B orientated business, but alas not. Not only was it very B2C orientated, it was also everything that I despise about certain parts of business, or should I say certain people involved in business.

To give Mr. Vaynerchuk his due, he's a multi-millionaire so he's been successful at what he does. He understands the different social media platforms inside out, and how each should be worked in a different way. But I do wonder how he managed to get his head out of his own arse for long enough to write this book. It reminded me of all the reasons I stay away from the self-promoting fake-altruistic sham that LinkedIn has become.

Yes, there were a few interesting insights here and there, show more but I was constantly distracted from the real life examples of people 'crushing it' by the repetitive reminders that 'oh by the way, they 'crushed it' after reading Gary Vaynerchuk's first version of this book written in 2009'. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't. I care less.

And then there was the 'crushing it' phrase itself. What a tosser.

If you polish your ego regularly on the hour and can think of nothing better than spending 16 hours a day developing your personal brand on social media, look no further than this book. Otherwise, pick the fluff out from between your toes or something else instead.

"Humori, urtësia dhe bujaria e Gary-t shfaqen plotësisht në këtë libër. Ai ka një aftësi të habitshme për t'iu folur me sinqeritet sipërmarrësve, duke iu dhënë udhëzime të qarta se si ta çojnë një ide drejt realizimit, pavarësisht industrisë ku janë".
I'm inspired by the unawareness of a narcissist wrapping himself in self-proclaimed altruism, which makes the perfect recipe for a future sociopath. Right-on... This book promotes the iBrand to crush any potential for pluralistic development.
This book is an easy enough read, and is a follow up for his earlier, "Crush It"

I like the last two chapters a lot, on podcasts and voice-first. They have given me ideas, and so this is a good enough reason for me to like this book!

For the rest, I do think he could have gone a bit deeper. I do not like his constant references to how people were influenced by his earlier book, "Crush It". He almost sounds like a messiah, and he is not!
This book was a good one. It talks about entrepreneurship and how to make the best out of what it is you are selling. Gary Vee does this by giving real examples from people that have either been inspired by him or made it on their own and want to share how to expand their brand/platform by hard work and a smart business mindset
In 2009, Gary Vaynerchuk wrote the book “Crush It” which was a kind of work that solidified his personal brand apart from his Wine Library TV and allowed him to evolve into a fertile public speaker. Enough to say that, now, he is a five-time best selling author. So 9 years later, in 2018, he has written “Crushing It” which might be treated as a follow up to “Crush it”, and it features and describes great stories of people who were influenced by his first book. He eventually grew into what he is now, a very successful businessman, a marketing guru, and a phenomenal speaker. The important thing is that he is doing it right by teaching people how to properly conduct their current businesses.

“Crushing It” tells you how you show more can utilise social platforms based on a plethora of breakdowns of success stories of people who mastered platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Linkedin, YouTube, etc. By reading the book you get the origin stories of these people.

Worth to say that this is not just about digital marketing and social media. The book is about how you can build and develop real businesses in the modern era and take advantage of the tools and the opportunities that are now available to you and showing you how to do it, by talking chronological steps based on other great online entrepreneurs as well as people who have built firms with advantages of online tools to scale those endeavours.

If you want to focus on something specific, whether it’s Facebook, Youtube, Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat or even live streaming, then I believe that this book can offer you a bedrock for that. More importantly, I think it could lead you in direction of someone’s success, that you can apply...
