A short Audible book about brain trauma (CTE). I knew about this from football (American) and military blasts, but had no idea the threshold was so low as to make heading a soccer ball (which can be done thousands of time in practice) a problem, and since CTE seems to happen once a sufficiently large number of mild to moderate shocks are taken, wow.
Also learned that apparently women respond even worse to CTE than men, and this hadn’t been studied much (since they weren’t in sport or military datasets). And a particularly common cause of CTE in women is domestic violence.
Overall, a very informative book. Some parts could have been explained a little better if it had been written for a “smarter” or better educated audience, but as show more a mass market book, it was still really good. show less
