This is not the Bible. It's one man's attempt to make the Bible more accessible. It can be a useful tool to help understand scripture, and it can also obscure things. One example: The Lord's Prayer states "Give us this day our daily bread" which has come to have a depth of meaning that goes beyond the simple phrase. Peterson's translation "give us three square meals" sounds far more dated (who refers to square meals any longer) than the earlier translations, and fails to give the depth of those translations as well. If you buy this, make sure it's not the only version you own.
Não é uma tradução ortodoxa, mas nos leva a repensar algumas passagens e ver os eventos sobre um novo ângulo. Para estudo e compreensão, sempre deve ser lido com um olhar crítico e em conjunto com outras traduções.
This is the audiobook version of THE MESSAGE, a Bible in contemporary American language. It is the best way to understand the Bible for Americans. It is exciting book to listen to or read. If the King James Version of the Bible no longer attracts a person, THE MESSAGE will re-awaken your interest in God's Holy Word.
Personally, I do not feel that this Bible is a paraphrase any more than the KJV is a paraphrase. Unless you can read the actual Greek or Hebrew languages, as I understand Eugene Peterson does every day, you will always be reading a paraphrase of the Bible in the language of the day it was translated. Therefore, to me, this is a Bible translation that I can trust and that I can understand.

This is a must have for any Christian! I use it as a supplement to my KJV Bible. It is written in every day language which makes it so easy to understand and relate to.
Another version of the bible but in regular, plain language. Peterson did a good job I think. It translates well and makes things an easy read for those who aren't used to other versions or hate the King James.
Not really a study Bible, but great for just shucking God's Word down to something one needs to hear so much of the time.
The Bible is many-layered, with treasure at each level. I like the freshness of this translation.
