A strong book to help an adolescent girl grow academically, emotionally, and socially. Beth is ambitious. She does not want to be cornered like her mother with eight children in a trailer. Feeling shunned by her father she almost goes all the way with her boyfriend. Although Beth is strong enough to but passion on hold her sister is not. Seeking knowledge and developing skills are important themes as are faith in God and family love and commitment.
