Tales of the Winter Wolf Omnibus

Hmmm. Yes, this really is a novel in chunks - aside from each chapter/section having a conclusion, more or less, it's one continuous story. Oddly, there's a chunk missing. This is volumes 1-5, covering from Nicolina and Richard meeting to them in his house (with about 40 other people) after many crises and some declarations. Volume 6 is Richard dealing with Nicolina not remembering him - it's attached to (some editions of) Winter Wolf. I know some of the things that happened in between - their marriage, her running, and her choice to gain power - but apparently those haven't been written in this set of stories. I'll have to see if I've missed another collection somewhere. Rich, complicated, a refined form of teen angst. There are a lot show more of crises dealt with - a kidnapping or two or three (not counting the friendly ones), quite a few well-deserved deaths, a plane crash and several vehicle crashes, some discussion of what Fenerec are and what they'll do, decisions made and only afterward understood... It's a tumultuous series of events, and it's only a few months at most. Wild. Worth reading, though still not a favorite - though some of the banter is fun, and I gained a little more understanding of Desmond. A little. show less
